Inchiquin House is an elegant period home in County Clare, romantically tucked away in the west of Ireland not far from the Atlantic. It is the perfect base from which to explore the unique Burren landscape, historic sites and the county’s many leisure activities. Over 200 years old, the house stands in its own peaceful wooded private estate of over one hundred acres, reached by its own half-mile long avenue. This well-appointed self-catering home comfortably accommodates 10 guests in 5 bedrooms, and is an ideal vacation setting for family and friends. We are delighted to provide for the young and old, having a special outside playhouse for children and a wheelchair-accessible bathroom and guest room within. Inchiquin House is conveniently positioned only 30 minutes drive from Shannon Airp... more

    Additional Location Information
Inchiquin House is situated at the gateway to the famous karst limestone Burren in Co. Clare. It is easily accessible from abroad, being only 30 minutes drive from Shannon International Airport. While the House and Estate is a charming tranquil hideaway, there is simply so much to do and see in the surrounding area. Start simply with the stunning landscape of the Burren National Park, the monumental Cliffs of Moher at the Alantic, or go underground into the Ailwee or Doolin Caves. For those who are actively minded, surf and golf in Lahinch; walk, bike or hike in the National Park and along the breathtaking Atlantic coast, or boat and fish in our own local Lake Inchiquin. Interested in history? Explore the nearby archaeological megalithic tombs, medieval abbeys and castles and cultural parks such as Bunratty. On your way home, drop into Boffey’s pub in Corofin, and sit in front of the open turf fire with your Guinness whilst listening to the jigs and reels of the ‘trad’ musicians.

The first thing we noticed while pulling up the long driveway leading us to the picturesque home was the beauty of the landscape. Everything was lush and green. There were fine-looking horses on one side and lovely cows and sheep lining the drive on the other. Once we settled in, we felt we had found our home away from home....

We had a truly wonderful stay with a group of friends at this property a number of weeks ago. The house is beautifully restored and has all the modern conveniences you could desire, while maintaning the charm of yesteryear. There is lots to do in and around the house, with beautiful gardens, a vegetable garden, and plenty to keep children... more

My partner and I stayed in Inchiquin House with some friends this weekend, and found it to be a wonderful, relaxing experience. The house is a lovingly restored period house, in which the owners have managed to achieve the right balance between modern convenience, and historic authenticity. The result is a cosy and characterful place, and a comfortable base from... more
