An ideal base to explore the Peak District National Park and such notable locations as Chatsworth House, Alton Towers (10 miles), and many other National Trust properties. Walking, cycling (Manifold track), climbing (The Roaches), golf and fishing are available locally, as well as the Churnet Valley Steam Heritage Railway.     Take the A523 Ashbourne road. Approximately 3 miles from Leek, turn right (signposted Apesford, Basford and Coombes Valley Nature Reserve), immediately crossing the steam heritage railway line. Continue for a mile and a half and the entrance to Oldfield Farm is located on the right, with a metal farm gate opening onto the driveway of the property (the nameplate Oldfield is on the left hand side of the entrance). Proceed to the end of the drive to the courtyard adjacent to the holiday accommodation.
    From Ashbourne,:
    Take the A52/A523 Leek road. Approximately 2 miles after the Bottomhouse crossroads, turn left (signposted Apesford, Basford and Coombes Valley Nature Reserve) and follow the directions above.

We booked this cottage as a base for a two day trip to Alton Towers. We did not do the cottage justice with the time we spent there. The accommodation is stunning and to a very high standard. What a sensational place, Barbara and John were wonderful hosts, left us to our own devices but were always there if needed. The barn is brilliant and the wild life wonderful. Thank you Barbara and John for sharing your piece of beautiful Midlands with us, we all just loved every minute. We were thoroughly spoilt. more

Greeted by owners with a warm welcome, very useful information pack and more personal touches than you'd have thought possible.
