    Irton Hall is situated in the foothills of the Western fells at the junction of Wasdale, Miterdale and Eskdale. Approached from the south via the A590 from junction 36 of the M6 motorway heading towards Barrow-in-Furness, then take the A5092, and A595 north to Ravenglass. Beyond Ravenglass turn right at Holmrook onto minor road signposted for Irton. The Hall will be located after approximately 1 1/2 miles on the left-hand side. Alternatively, from the north, take the A66 westbound from junction 40 of the M6 motorway, at Cockermouth turn left onto the A5086 to its junction with A595. Proceed south and turn left at Holmrook signposted Irton.

When we arrived on the Friday we were taken to the clock tower by a very pleasant member of the hotel staff next door. All looked well on arrival with most of the rooms and living area was fantastic, but when we went into the only room upstairs the room was smelling of damp and clearly had water damage in the en-suite bathroom. We informed the management straight away who said there had been roof damage during the previous nights storm. In my opinion a damp smell does not happen overnight and this problem had been around longer. We decided to put up with the room as we were not offered a replacement and did not want to be away from the group. No offer of discount or refund was made. We kept clothes out of hallway due to damp smell. Roof was fixed the following day after a reminder to management and he offered us some deodorisers but they never arrived. As well as this the TV did not work but was fixed quickly by nice maintenance guy. One side of oven did not work but it turns... more
