“Big home close to beach but needs updating”

Our group of family and friends has been coming to the Outer Banks for 11 years and decided to try "Island Time" in Rodanthe this summer. The home is located behind The Rodanthe Pier and is listed correctly as semi-ocean front, as it sits behind some open lots currently for sale.

The home is very large, and was probably beautiful when it was first opened. It has nice ammenities like a large game room, elevator for seniors, Great AC, Paddle fans and beautiful pine floors in the Family room and interesting tile work throughout..
Unfortunately, the home is badly in need of some TLC. The mattereses are horrible, bedding is inexpensive and pill covered. Tread mill does not work, very litte silverware, kitchen ammenities (pots/pans/coffee makers, etc..) need updating. Additionally, both the interior and exterior could use a paint job and as the prior travelor advised, the outdoor furniture is cheap plastic.

Our party of three couples stayed at Island Time during Labor Day week, 2010. The house is extremely well furnished, everything was clean and in perfect operating condition. The pool was excellent, and Island Time is almost oceanfront...there's no other house between it and the water, but there are some lots for sale so it's properly considered semi-oceanfront. That makes it a good value. Surf of Sound Realty was excellent to work with, the check-in after a brush with hurricane Earl went surprisingly well, and the drive-thru check-out they offer is perfect. Only one minor gripe -- the outdoor deck furniture was cheap plastic junk, some of which was already cracked. A house that nice should have better furniture. Check with S or S, maybe that's been remedied by now. Certainly a great beachfront home and for us, a great time.
