    Secluded and private, this cozy 700 square foot cabin with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath is tucked up on the mountain side at the rear of the Elk Mountain Lodge property. From the master bedroom, you can walk through the French doors onto a private deck leading to an oversized four-person outdoor Jacuzzi tub that faces the tranquil national forest. On the deck, there is a BBQ and small campfire pit for your private dinners.

    The Elk Mountain Lodge property is located on Highway 126 near the intersection of Hwys 4/126 - near the border of the Valles Caldera National Preserve. We are tucked into a ridge that is frequently traveled by area elk herds. The San Antonio River is directly across the highway from our property and offers anglers a great opportunity to catch their dinner! Other area activities include; hiking, hot springs, sight seeing, wildlife photography, Fenton Lake, Seven Springs Fish Hatchery and the Gilman Tunnels at the Rio Guadalupe cascades. There are frequent activities and art shows in Father Fitzgerald Park down in the Village of Jemez Springs, a great number of area restaurants and other amazing and eclectic shoppes and attractions - too numerous to mention...

We don't often get the chance to escape our business in Albuquerque, but just an hour or so to the north are the Jemez Mountains and we love that area. High Country, they call it, at 7,500 feet and above. Alpine Country is what I call it, with air so light and clean you can breathe deep, deep, deep and feel the life come into your lungs and heart with each breath. On this Labor Day weekend we chose to discover Elk Mountain Lodge and reserved the Tall Pines Cabin, which is set apart from the other accommodations and allowed us to bring our dogs (good doggies, they don't jump around on the furniture or otherwise tear the place up). We couldn't have asked for a more comfortable place to rest and re-charge, and taking in the beauty of the High Country at this site was just perfect. Garth and Robin are wonderful inn keepers and made us feel welcome right from the start. The breakfast they prepare each morning (included) is superb - best darn breakfast burritos and hot cereal we've had... more
