We rented the appartment for 5 people: us 3 & my sister -and brother-in-law. Fully equiped appartment with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen and laundry room. Everything is great, except the living room is a bit too tiny: it's hard to eat breakfast at the table, because there is just not enough space to put all the chairs and the table. Our 2nd nite we had the fright of our lives: we could smell bearning from the airco and the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night! There is a 24 hour service, so I called them up & they would send someone to fix it (and they did)! The only thing is also: you can hardley open any window. There is only the possibility of opening a few of them for a couple of centimeters. We are used of living with open windows in our appartment back home, so for us was it a bit claustrofobic (but we could handle it :-)).
The view from the appartment is fantastic: you can see the Hudson river, Ellis Island & Lady Liberty!
We all enjoyed our...

- Excellent value in comparison to staying in Manhattan for four to six people.
- Responsive staff
- Located next or close to several inexpensive mass transit options
- Nice back door location to those wishing to visit Statute of Liberty and Ellis Island
- Kitchen with washer and dryer
- Some nice neighborhood type restaurants within blocks including the Zeppelin Hall Biergarten and Restaurant at ground level.
- grocery's available within a half mile

Was in New York area to do the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim. I had myself and crew members so needed a place that could ,accommodate. The Manhattan side is prohibitive or impossible for multiple bedrooms, two baths and space. Overall this worked out well. The neighborhood is rapidly gentrifying with new condo type buildings and restored brownstones. Several nice eatery's in area and if you like beer and German food, the Zeppelin Hall beer-garden is at ground level. The 9-11 Memorial/Freedom Tower...
