The Ma’ukele Lodge consists of three unique bedrooms with private baths, and King and Queen sized beds. Enjoy the warm tropical breeze and the sound of the ocean after the day’s adventures while you relax on the ocean fronted lanai sipping some tropical concoction, and watch the dolphins and whales frolic. We offer fresh local grown coffees and a sumptuous full breakfast served on the lanai overlooking the beautiful black sand beach.
It is an idyllic place to relax beside the sea - just minutes away from where the Kilauea volcano enters the Pacific. Trade Winds blow a constant breeze amongst coconut trees along the shore of jet black sand and newly formed lava.
You can view, from the beach that fronts the home, Kilauea Volcano entering the Pacific Ocean just 2 miles away w...

    Additional Location Information
Kaimu literally means gathering (at the) sea (to watch surfing) or silent sea.
It was a small town in the Puna district that is still designated as the most famous and photographed black sand beach in Hawaii.
The beach, several great surf sites, and park were completely destroyed by an eruptive flow of the Kupai anaha vent of the Kilauea Volcano in 1990.

You will see many little geckos around the property and they will visit you during breakfast on the patio overlooking the ocean. Falling asleep to the sounds of the coqui frogs and crashing waves is amazing. Hosts Raven and Mark went above and beyond to make... more

If you are looking for a truly unique experience, here it is - eclectic decor; falling asleep in a canopy bed with mosquito netting with tree frogs croaking; taking an outdoor shower in the jungle canopy, geckos around the breakfast table on the lanai who will come up and have a taste of fruit from your hand, watching lava flow... more

Awesome place! Gorgeous little B&B. The downstairs bedroom was great....big comfy bed, and a cool outdoor, but private bathroom with a shower in the ferns and orchids. Breakfast was super yummy and the list of spots they gave us to check out was spot on. Even though it was a little cloudy and there was a full moon, we were... more
