Instead of the usual, staying in hotels, we decided to try staying in a Machiya. We did enjoy the stay very much and experience a little of living like a local. The place is well kept, clean and thoughtfully equipped. Location is good, with bus stops, subway stations, convenient stores and a supermarket nearby, all within 5 minutes walk. Here... more

Thank you for your review. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay, and appreciate your very thorough feedback. Staying in a traditional machiya, as opposed to a hotel, is definitely one way that visitors to Kyoto are able to experience Japan like a local! We believe that it’s unlike any architecture in the world! Our... more

It is spacious, clean and has all the amentities we need - the little porch was also perfect to park our double pram. We loved the tatami rooms... more

We are so pleased to hear that you and your family enjoyed your stay with us in Kyoto! Staying in a traditional Japanese machiya will most definitely offer you a different experience that you cannot get from a typical hotel! You can learn about different aspects of the Japanese culture first hand. It is, as you say, also perfect for... more
