20m from the Skala and with a dramatic sea view from its split level terrace, the Consulat Brézilien in on the corner of one of the medina’s main streets by the fortified sea walls. The spacious and luminous central courtyard, covered by a skylight and flanked by arches, has an otherworldly quality. The recent restoration work has returned the building to its origina...

Only two and a half hours from Marrakech, with a newly built four lane connecting road, but without its hectic pace, Essaouira is one of the most peaceful town to visit in Morocco. The temperature is more constant that in other parts too, due to the constant Atlantic winds.

Essaouira has long been an international port. The present walled city dates from the 18th century but the town was always a major trading point, contended by many.

Over the years the owners have added to and polished both properties without ever losing its charming and authentic feel. It is right in the middle of Essouira and feels both grand and elegant while still being cosy and convenient. Both properties are beautiful; this one benefits from a large shared dining room under romantic arches and a beutiful terace on the roof to look over the city.It has a more modern, chic look as compared to the Clara Toby's romantic old-Morrocan decor.

The staff are very unobtrusive and the chef on that last occassion managed to pull a staggering feast of Morroocan specialities for the entire group out of her...
