Secluded. Private. Panoramic views from a wraparound deck above the coconut palms, looking out over the sea to other far-off islands and to fishing boats passing by... The house is very, very unique. Our house was built in the 1980's and it is perhaps the strongest house on the island, as it is the only home to survive past hurricanes. Our home is off-grid; The power to run the electricity comes from a combination of solar panels and a wind generator on the roof. This energy from the wind and the sun is then stored in a large bank of batteries. (The refrigerator and the stove are powered by butane.) We conserve energy and all of our water comes from a huge water catchment system, which captures the rain and filters it for pure drinking water. The showers are nice and warm, as we have an on-demand water heater for the shower. We are lo... Read more

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

Management response:

We are glad to hear the good words. You both were a very good fit for our house: adventurous and not wanting to be living the "all inclusive style" cooky cutter vacation. Caye Caulker is a very very unique place without cars or modern conveniences and those who want to enjoy a simple, relaxed, beautiful vacation in a place that... more

The Indigo Pearl was a very nice place to stay. Solar power allowed us to have a fan at night and lights when we needed them. Stove worked well for cooking our own meals and the fridge/freezer did an excellent job keeping the Belikin cold. Wet season meant a lot of mosquitoes ( I would say comparable to Alaska) but... more

Linda made us feel comfortable from the start. We chose this house because of the view and being away from town. We were not disappointed. The view was spectacular!!! The house was perfect. We loved the fact that we were the only renters although there is another unit. There were neighbors but never seemed to invade on our privacy. Very... more
