  • Property description
    Rental Home –
    10 Bedrooms, 8 Bathrooms, Sleeps 20
Beautiful château spectacularly set in the middle of its picturesque country estate of 63 hectares, with dramatic views of the Pyrenees.

The château dominates its land of pastures, woods and streams and welcomes private guests to enjoy themselves in these idyllic private surroundings.

The emphasis is on an easy-going family atmosphere where guests are encouraged to relax, help themselves to drinks, treat the place as home and come and go as they please. There are no meals to make.

The château's history can be dated back to 1666 but it is evident that there was a property here for centuries before. It was completely remodelled in 1850 and an extension added in the early 1900's, date unknown. The owners bought the property in 1989 and have carried out various alterations and im...

Ten days at Chateau Arlens was heaven. I've been holidaying here for 4 years, having originally come as a guest with 17 other family friends. It worked really well as a rental because although we had come as a group, there were lots of places for us to relax with in the grounds with out getting under each other's feet. The two kitchens made perfect sense as the children could be catered for and eat without getting in the way of preparation for adults supper. The cold room also allowed large shops to be done with out running out of fridge space.

The Chateau it's self is a beautiful traditional building with many original features. The rooms all have their own bathrooms and are very grand, with lots of character. The large reception rooms leading off the wood floored halls are airy and provide the most fantastic back drop in a very grand, traditional, home.

Although on request B&B is accommodated this is the kind of place you lease for a week or more for a large family or good gang of friends. We had a party of 18 at its height and thoroughly enjoyed the entire stay. Sal makes everyone feel incredibly welcome and will help with anything from posting back forgotten items to arranging wine tasting at the chateau to advising which local spots to go and see.
Definitely more suited to self catering which is easily done with a well furnished kitchen and walk in fridge, although Sal and her team will cater if required.
The pool is in tip top condition and compliments the view over the valley that the enormous outside oak table sits for chilled breakfasts, long lunches and riotous dinners.
The house is a real piece of living history and while some have commented that it has seems a bit worn I would say it's character is so much more preferable than a stale and soul-less hotel or recently converted Gite.
