We stayed at the Stone House for 2 weeks last summer to visit friends in the village - we had no idea how beautiful the area is and completely fell in love with it...rolling hills, lakes, forests mixed with historical towns and farmland all very different form the usual beach holiday but just as much fun for the kids and us.
The village is quiet but has the necessary bakers, butchers, pharmacy and greengrocers - its selling point the swimming lake, complete with diving boards and lifeguards. Without this I'm not sure how we would have entertained the 6yr old.
St Germaine is quiet - perfect for spending time with friends. Evenings were mainly spent eating outside and talking - not an area for those who like to go dancing/theme parks/organised activity.
The property was basic but charming - its garden the thing that stole the show, allowing the kids to play outside and us to dine outside in the evenings....it was a pretty warm spell! It's plum tree treating...
