What a beautiful cottage in a stunning, quiet location just a short walk into the city centre where you will find plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants. The cottage itself is wonderful and newly renovated to a very high standard with wooden floors, painted walls and pretty curtains and lamp shades. A new shower room has been fitted with a fantastic shower and great lighting for the mirror. The kitchen is perfectly fitted full of essentials with a matching Denby dinner service. The owners very kindly left us tea, coffee and sugar along with essentials like washing up liquid, detergent, dish washer tables, bin bags, kitchen rolls, cling-film, clean cloths and tea-towels. There is also a discreet pull out table for two along with stools which is a hidden gem. There is also a lovely dining table for 4 in the lounge which is really beautiful, along with a couple of tealights on the mantelpiece above a... more

Matchbox Cottage is part of and belongs to the same people who run Box Tree Cottages. The owners are very friendly and made us feel welcome just as they have done in the past.

A five-minute walk will take you to Ripon's market square and town hall (where the tourist info has now moved to), a further two minutes and you stand in front of the cathedral. The bus stop for buses going to Harrogate, Leeds or the Dales with their villages and small towns is just behind the market square, so you are quite mobile even without a...
