    Rental Home –
    2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 6
Pallade Vieux is a restored 19th century cottage which forms part of a traditional Querynoise farm on a chalk ridge in beautiful rolling hill country. The main house is the owner's family home but will normally be unoccupied when Pallade Vieux is let.

The farm is surrounded by 5 acres of wild flower and grass meadow, sloping away on three sides from the ridge to give uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside and on a clear day the distant peaks of the Pyrenees.

There is a cherry orchard and a wide variety of other trees scattered around the farm including figs, apricots, nectarines, plums, walnuts and olives. The trees attract a variety of birds: woodpeckers, nuthatches, tree creepers, bee eaters and the elusive golden oriel are all regular visitors. The barn is home to bl...

    Additional amenities & feature info
The cottage retains many original features, including exposed beams and an ancient well ( child-safe) built into the structure of the building. There is a large salon/studio with a traditional functioning fireplace with a wood-burning stove, and French doors onto a small terrace. The salon has two single beds which are equipped for use as daybeds/sofas when not required. A double sofa bed is also available, so there is scope for expanding sleeping capacity. There are two bedrooms, one of which opens onto the terrace by the pool (please see comments below on pool safety), a small but well-equipped kitchen (converted from the old stable) and a bathroom with a standard size bath and shower attachment..

5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

I had a great week here in an unspoiled area of SW France. Looks like they took care to decorate the gite with a lot of thought so pleasing to the eye and lots of fun furnishings. Love the pool area and the day bed in the shady shelter. Amazing scenery from all sides of the gite and lots of places to enjoy an aperitif. We were there when there were loads of sunflowers in the surrounding field! We dined around under the shade of the chestnut tree by the main house for the perfect sunset. I am a cyclist so brought my racing bike. Moderate hills but stunning scenery and no traffic, which is remarkable in this day and age! Our favourite outing was Moissac on market day but there are a few other medieval towns in the area. This area produces a lot of fruit so we bought direct from the orchards - a welcome change. more

Pallade Vieux is a wonderful place to have a really relaxing holiday. We absolutely loved our holiday here last year, and have just booked to stay again this summer. The website is accurate; the accommodation is full of character but is both comfortable and practical. The private salt water pool is super and we spent so much time having relaxing poolside meals, enjoying the local French cheeses and wines. The kids loved playing in the ‘tree-house’. The countryside is stunning and just perfect for local walks, and cycle rides and picnics. We had a fantastic holiday here and would recommend it to anyone! more
