Once we found it (see below), this really was the most fantastic place to stay. It is so quiet and peaceful - no tourist honeypots around here, and yet we could drive to the outskirts of Florence in around 20 minutes (getting to the centre was another matter). Be aware though, that there is no air conditioning, and a car is essential. The accomodation was beautifully decorated, and the garden was delightful. The surrounding area is full of little tracks and footpaths to explore (not all on the map), with chestnut woods and hay fields to walk through rather than olive groves and vineyards. The nearby towns are not at all touristy, although they are worth a visit. The village of Polcanto has a little store, and a bar only.
