Nova Cura is a more than 100 year old houseboat that is surprisingly spacious inside. A short walk away are shops, cafés and restaurants and the largest outdoor market in Amsterdam, and it is close to a tram line for easy access around the city. Central Station is a 30 minute walk, or 10 minutes by tram.
We found the ceiling inside the living area a little low, being just 6 feet high at the highest point, but were told there are plans to raise the roof in the next year. The bathroom is a generous size and the tub is extra long and very comfortable, but standing up to shower is not easy with the reduced height of the ceiling and the lack of a shower curtain.
The kitchen is small but well-equipped. The combination oven-microwave was non-functioning, but the gas cooktop was lovely. When we mentioned the issue to the owner, he immediately brought over a working microwave oven. He also dealt with other issues right away, such as needing extra mugs, glasses, and towels.
