Blea Brows enjoys a fantastic secluded setting in Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons country! It is a fabulous cottage for couples, families or group holidays, and a safe location for children and pets as it is set in the grounds of the big house, Brown Howe. It enjoys private lake access (with three other properties), just a few minutes stroll away, ideal for boating, picnics and exploring. Wild Cat island is within reach by boat, and the beach adjoins the beautiful Blawith common, ideal for exploring and with more lovely beaches to discover! From here you can also enjoy amazing views up the lake towards Coniston, with the well-walked Fairfield Horseshoe in view.
It is a cosy, comfortable detached cottage with woodburner, and well equipped for holida...

Lovely cottage with a stunning surprise. The use of the private beach was the icing on the cake. This is a lovely well equipped cottage in a great location if you want to get away from it all. 4 adults a little one two dogs and a babe in arms managed easily with a well equipped cottage. Going to the... more

Management response:

Glad you had such a great time. It is a magical place for young children. Ours enjoyed it in exactly the same way - swimming, swinging, skimming - just as yours did! Being able to go down to the lake shore early in the morning is something special. We've been going for over thirty years and we still feel privileged... more

Blea Brows is a lovely cottage in an excellent location next to a lake (2 minute walk). It is fairly rural so it car is defenitely needed. But it is only a short drive to Coniston and Ambleside. There are also plenty of walks nearby. The cottage itself is very well equipped, especially the kitchen. The living/dining area is homely... more

Good sized property for our group of 5. Kitchen very well equipped, living room comfy and excellent drying and storage space. We found the three bathrooms very handy. Loved the local prints and paintings distributed throughout the house. Private access to Coniston Water through the woods was the main reason we booked the property. This is really lovely and a... more

Management response:

Hi guys. Thanks for your review. It's always very helpful to have things pointed out (good and bad!). Great to hear that you had a good time. Glad you like the prints. We've really enjoyed collecting prints from local artists. Nice to know that other people like them too! Also, thanks for the info about hiring canoes. What a good... more
