This fascinating Grade II* listed house of immense historical interest was built around 1530 and boasts the original Tudor turning staircase. Opposite the church and in the heart of the Citadel, the holiday cottage is heavily beamed throughout with a bread oven in the laundry room. An ideal base for exploring the cobbled streets of Rye. Flushing House was filmed by the BBC for their comedy drama 'Mapp and Lucia' (December 2014) starring Anna Chancellor, Miranda Richardson, Steve Pemberton and Mark Gatiss. The cottage is featured as 'Woolgar and Pipstow', the estate agent.

Had a three night break here with friends, we completely loved the house and the town. Cosy and quaint, and very pleasant owners. Would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a relaxed spell away. more

5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

The accommodation and welcome we received from the owners who live next door exceeded our expectations. Our short stay (two married couples) was memorable and trouble-free. We'd happily recommend this to friends and would love to return when the opportunity comes. Fine restaurants within easy walking distance too. more

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014 for a stay in March 2014

We arrived prepared to be a little chilly in such a historic house but were not for a moment, the house is very warm and comfortable, immaculately and sensitively updated and decorated, and very well equipped. Lovely welcome from the owners who are right... more
