If like us, you want to explore the whole of Bequia - so not just the beaches near the island's main hotels, this spot up in the hills is a great base. The property's Landrover (we called it "the Beast", will make you feel like the Caribbean real deal, (whether you're driving, or bumping about on the open- top bench seating at the back!).
Hope Crest was really such an impressive place to stay - It's worth getting up early, so as to enjoy a quick dip in the pool before breakfast on the terrace, (ripe mango on toast was an accidental and delicious discovery for us), glancing up occasionally to take in the perfectly framed sea view the East. In fact, rise before 6 and you'll catch the sunrise over the Atlantic - you couldn't design it better if you tried!
Then we would generally take 'the beast ' for a spin down to (insert idyllic beach of your choice); lunch spots not to be missed: Sugar Reef at Industry Bay, Jack's Bar on Princess Margaret beach... more
