My parents are originally from Jamaica, but I hadn't been to Montego Bay until I stayed at Joe's beautiful rental property this year. We were greeted by Wilbert upon arrival, the warmest man you will ever meet. He gave us very useful advice about taxis, shopping and general local information that every traveller should be aware of. The area is very safe and a short drive to downtown. Do not pay more than $300 (JA) per taxi ride, but you need to understand that there are specific taxis for the route covered by this property (only take Salem Taxis).From there, it is a short stroll to the beach or if you don't fancy the 15 minute walk, you could catch another taxi.
The Accommodation is very large. Basic by UK standards but very good in terms of what you might see elsewhere in Jamaica. Security is excellent and Wilbert always has your back, so to speak.
