We arrived in amazing sunshine to a view of a beautiful valley a fabulous pool and three young buzzards soaring in the blue skies above. Le Barry Gelat was a handsome three hundred year old pale stone building it had an enormous lounge come dining kitchen area with fabulous features including the huge, ancient fireplace, with a log burner for winter visitors and a real feel of rural France. A large light pretty bedroom with great views and also a large bathroom with an excellent shower that was very welcome during the sunny weather.
The first evening here will stay in our memories for a lifetime. The village was holding its annual Randonnée Nocturne Gourmande. Karen the owner ordered us tickets and accompanied us as we joined in with practically the whole village on feast/ramble around the village and neighbouring farms and woods, on of course a balmy, sunny, summer evening.Starting with aperitifs opposite the Mayor's office there followed a feast, courses of soup, duck salad...
