4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012 for a stay in August 2012

We had a very nice time in this very big house. We were 3 (two parents and a 4 year old), and we just used 2 of the 4 bedrooms available. It was lovely having such a big kitchen, and a lovely garden/terrace that always has some shade around the big table. The amenities are good, the instructions and support are excellent. All in all, I'd really recommend this place.

The only thing to take note of has nothing to do with the house; it *is* in rural France, so to go anywhere outside of the area (the highway, Narbonne, Perpignan, etc), calculate at least 45 minutes of bendy roads. That said, it's really worth it to get a good map and drive around. Especially the Cathar castle route has great views, and Chateau de Peyrepertuse is incredible.

We really loved our stay at Escarmonde. We went as a family 4 adults and one teenage boy
and found the house everything we could have hoped for.
Beautifully located in a charming and friendly set in the stunning foothills of the Pyenese, perfect for lake swimming, beaches, cycling, walking or just hanging out.
The house itself was very clean, spacious, cool in the heat of the day and beautifully warm in the evenings, it was very well equiped with a gorgous large kitchen.
We most enjoyed eating our meals ouside under the bird filled lime tree,we spent hours just sitting, eating and chatting.
The whole holiday had a timeless quality and we never wanted to leave this peaceful oasis......we will be back!
