    Additional Location Information
San Donato is a small medieval village at the top of a hill minutes from the Firenze-Siena roadway about halfway between Florence and Siena. I had the good fortune to stay here for a week in May a few years ago. It was the highlight of my trip to Italy. This beautiful big apartment is in the middle of an ancient teeny town. It is tastefully furnished but cozy too, with a giant wood burning fireplace, high end linens and gorgeous views of the Tuscan hills. I am an artist, and I painted a few paintings of the apartment, with it's views out the french doors in the kitchen/dining room. I was so inspired that upon returning home to my studio I completed over a dozen paintings from photos taken on our day trips by car all over Tuscany, as well as a few large paintings of the apartment. My husband and I enjoyed the most delicious gelato from the place directly across the street every night. Next to the gelato place was the best pizza we ever tasted, we could eat there every night but didn't. We mixed it up with dinners at the amazing gourmet restaurant down the street and the delicious linguini with clam sauce at the... more
