    Property description
    Rental Home –
    2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 4
The Old Workshop is a luxury two bed cottage in a private courtyard on the edge of Bath. Just like our first property, the Saltings (174775), the Old Workshop is finished to a very high four star standard, ideal for a romantic get-away, a relaxing break or a base for all the many sights of the area. The accommodation is flexible, so the property is suitable and cost effective for between one and four people.

The Old Workshop has stunning views at the rear of the river Avon and beyond, underfloor heating, luxury oak painted kitchen, an ensuite shower room and main shower room. You can walk to the river Avon and a super riverside pub from where you can take a beautiful boat trip into the City of Bath. The surrounding countryside is easily accessed, by car, public transport, bike or on foot....

    Additional amenities & feature info
The Old Workshop has been set up to maximise the views over the beautiful Bathampton meadows at the rear, so the lounge/kitchen/dining area is on the top floor and the two bedrooms on the ground floor.

The fresh air ventilation and heat recovery system, coupled with luxurious underfloor heating, means you should enjoy perfect temperatures all year round.

Much use has been made of natural materials, so you will find lots of oak throughout the property, including the kitchen cabinets, which have been painted in one of our favourite Farrow and Ball colours.

The lounge area has two Chesterfield 2 seater leather sofas in which you can just sit and enjoy the view or take in some DVDs or your favourite music from the docking station.

The Old Workshop is accessed through a courtyard just off the High Street in the village of Batheaston, one of the small suburbs of the famous historic City of Bath.

Access by road is very simple. We are about half a mile from the main roundabout intersection of the A46 onto the London Road going into Bath.

There is a secure car parking space immediately in front of the property, whilst the bus stop, with regular services to and from the City, is immediately in front of the main building on the High Street. Typical journey time by bus or car is 10 minutes.

You can also walk or cycle, the towpath along the canal being a particularly attractive route. For a really leisurely journey you can get the boat to and from the City, from a landing stage by the weir on the river, just 5 or so minut...

We had the good fortune to book the old workshop for our holiday this year, following some disappointing holiday lets in Cornwall in the previous 2 years the old workshop was a revelation! It was in an ideal location for exploring Bath and the surrounding areas. Everything was clean and we didn't find anything we needed that wasn't supplied. There was...

We are really pleased you had such a nice time here. We are lucky to have the Bathampton Mill almost on our doorstep and the boat trip into the City from there is a real treat. Sorry you found the BBC reception poor. It's a bit of a mystery as it seemed ok when we tested it. Perhaps it was... more

Perfect place to explore Bath and beautiful countryside, right by the river Avon with views over river and magnificent countryside beyond. Bus stops right by accommodation which we used once and got the boat back from Bath to the nearby Bathampton Mill. Unfortunately weather wasn't on our side otherwise we would have walked/cycled into the centre. The accommodation itself was... more

Thanks ever so much for the comments. We too were a bit disappointed we only got a Visit Britain 4 star rating, but they use some strange criteria. Certainly everything we can control is 5 star. As you found, the house is highly insulated and has a heat recovery system, so quite often the heating is not needed, but we... more

Management response:

Nice to hear you enjoyed the Old Workshop and the Xmas market. It was really great this year - even better than before, we thought. We think it's nice to retreat to a quiet spot after the hectic bustle of Bath, so we are glad you found the same :-) Same time next year? :-) more
