    Additional amenities & feature info
Deceptively spacious on the ground floor, Ammonite has two large rooms – a lounge/sitting room and a kitchen/dining room. On opening the front door into the cottage, charm and authenticity are instantly evident. The original Yorkshire-range cast iron fireplace, one of only a handful remaining in the county, provides a grand focal point to a bright and airy beamed room.

Two ‘salt cupboards’ are set deep into the thick Yorkshire stone walls, whilst a wooden staircase leads up to the first floor landing. During the early part of the day the spacious and fully-fitted kitchen/dining room is often bathed in magnificent natural light from two large velux windows set into the sloping roof. Upstairs, two bedrooms, each with an exposed ‘truss’ beam, provide a peaceful place to sleep.

We can honestly say there was nothing about this cottage we would change, it was clean when we arrived, had all the utensils and things we needed and the garden was well used by our 3yr old. We were incredibly lucky in that the weather was fantastic but as we hadn't gone to North Yorkshire for weather, we had lots... more

The location is attractive and the garden sunny and private. Sadly the cottage did not meet our expectations - we spent 2 hours cleaning it on arrival - the prepaid cost of cleaning was refunded by the owner. The lounge suite is dirty and uncomfortable. The tumble drier was not working.. more

Management response:

Thank you for your feedback, which we are very disappointed to read. Our lounge suite has seen better days, particularly as we are a dog-friendly cottage. A new suite has now been purchased and is installed. We have reminded our cleaner to ensure that any small dead river flies are removed from the front bedroom window, and that the freezer... more

the rateing would of been excellent as the cottage is fantastic and so realxing unfortunatly we where unable to use the shower as it just gushed water which ended up coming through the ceiling before i had a chance to even wash properly (a plumber and electrician could not be found to rectifly the problem before we left) the problem... more

Management response:

Many thanks for your review Michael and for staying at Ammonite Cottage. We are sorry that we were unable to replace the shower before your departure but can confirm that a new shower was installed yesterday. With regards to the heating - electric storage heaters are a very efficient form of central heating as they release heat throughout the day... more
