We booked La Piaggia for a 60th birthday celebration, as we had always wanted to stay in a villa in Tuscany. The website pictures and reviews looked good, but you never know what something will really be like until you get there!
The villa more than fulfilled our dreams! The colourful gardens are beautiful, the views amazing and the villa typically Tuscan and comfortable. The outdoor pool is in a lovely setting surrounded by colourful flowers.
We met the owner, Theresa, who couldn't have been more helpful. She turned out to be our cook on the first night and gave us a superb meal, using vegetables, olives and wine grown in the villa's own grounds . We were told we could just help ourselves to any herbs in the garden for our own cooking.
The location is very good; ideal for visiting Florence, Lucca and Pisa and many other interesting places.
Our only regret was that we were only able to stay a week. We really hope we can visit again another... more
