Only about 2-3 hours drive on a smooth tarmac road to Nyeri, this cetrally located town is centrally located and rest on very fertile grounds. Agriculture is the main activity with cash crops tea and coffee dominating. Small subsistence farming is evident in almost all family farms with vegetables such as kales (sukuma wiki), tomatoes, spring onions,cabbages growing favaourably. Other crops include white maize, beans , bananas,capsicum, corn- fruit trees such as apples, oranges, passion fruits, lemons. In short you have a wide viriety to choose from. However, there is still more room for improvement such as extended markets,packaging or production in large quantities.
Now that Kenya is being subdivided into counties come 2012 - this is definately a county that can attract investors very easily becuase of its infrastructure, land fertility, tourism opportunity, rich culture and history, plenty of water. Its no wonder the members of the Royal family always end up doing somethign great in the Nyeri area, Queen Elizabeth, Prince WIliam, and other famous celebrites the Scout founders Lord Baden and Olive Powell lived here and becuase they loved Nyeri they decied to have it as theri resting place.
