No matter what time of year Estes Park is visited, there are numerous outdoor activities from which to choose. Hiking is available year-round, although it sometimes must be done with the help of snowshoes. Cross-country skiing is another extremely popular activity, and there are several designated areas for it. Estes Park is also well-known for its back-country skiing venues.

In the summer, there is golf available (and visitors who have never played at a high altitude are always amazed at how far their golf balls fly!). There are also numerous tennis courts in Estes Park – some area associated with lodges and hotels, and others are public.

People travel from near and far during the summer to bike in Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park . There are bike trails everywhere and for anyone who visits the area without a bike, there are places to rent them.

Fly fishing is a popular activity and can be done in many locations along Big Thompson and Fall River . People can also fish in the two lakes in the area, Lake Estes and Marys Lake. A fishing license is required for any of these areas.

Estes Park also offers horseback riding, swimming, boating, hunting, camping, running/jogging/walking trails, mountain climbing, rock climbing and frozen waterfall climbing. The activity list could go on and on… but rest assured that there are activities available to interest just about everybody.
