If you are visiting Corpus Christi during hurricane season (June 1 - November 30) it is important that you you be familiar with the storms and with your hotel's evacuation policies.  The National Hurricane Center is a good place to learn about hurricanes and to see if any are possibly being projected for the time of your visit.  If you plan on spending an extended period of time in Corpus Christi during hurricane season it is a good idea to be familiar with the city's evacuation routes and to keep a few survival items in your car such as a flashlight, bottled water, matches and non-perishable food.

Non-hurricane related safety tips include remembering to wear sunblock, even during the winter months, and to always practice water safety.  Never swim alone or allow children to do so.  Try to patronize beaches with on-duty lifeguards and stay away from the shore when storms are projected.
