The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is a "mini Met" with collections that span over 5000 years of humankind's creative achievements. Currently under a transformative expansion VMFA will open on May 1, 2010. The new VMFA will have four acres of museum under roof with two restaurants, a 3 1/2 acre sculpture garden, special exhibitions, and lots to do and see. Admission to the museum and permanent collections is always free. Special exhibitions and programs are ticketed.
