Looking to catch a bite and rock out in the same night? Here are a few clubs in Cambridge that offer both eats and live music.
The Middle East is a monolith in the shifting sands of the Boston rock scene; first opening its doors in 1970. Originating as a simple Lebanese restaurant, the establishment has grown to offer three different rooms featuring live performance: the "Bakery" where you can find bellydancing and acoustic music, the "Upstairs" which houses an intimate, but edgy rock club, and the "Downstairs" where larger acts do their thing. All three rooms are outfitted with bars.
As per the name, you can expect good Middle Eastern food to be the fare here. One restaurant serves the bakery and main dining area, while the other "Zuzu" leans a bit upscale in direction with their fine cusine presented in a tres chic environment.
Free parking is easily secured by scoping out the public lots that await just across the street. With your choice of three large lots, it is rare that you won't find a spot.
Here are a couple other Cambridge favorites for those who like the Middle East:
The Lizard Lounge is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a little less volume coming off of the stage and food that is more comfort food than culinary masterpieces.
Passim, located in Harvard Square is an even more intimate room than what the Lizard Lounge offers. Folk, world and eclectic acts often pass through this true listening room; with fare served by their in-house restaurant Veggie Planet.
Bon Appetit!
