Although Springfield Illinois doesn't exactly match up with the exciting nightlife of Chicago, as a state capital it does offer up a range of activities. As always, the Lincoln theme remains an option even at night. The New Salem State Park which is a recreated village from Lincoln's era, has a theater that is great spot to catch a performance in the evening.

For those in the mood for some live music and dancing there are several local hotspots to visit. For live music, Underground City Tavern on East Adams street has a great weekly line-up. Depending on what type of dancing you enjoy should determine your next pick. Chantilly Lace on South Fifth, does everything from polka and fox-trot to contemporary and dance beats depending on the night and is open until 3am. A new dance club pick, Karma, is more DJ oriented and has quickly become a favorite.

A classic American night of beers and sports is best fulfilled at Buster's Sports Bar on Sangamon Avenue. Buster's has 17 televisions, live music, and mechanical bull riding!

Too tired to venture out after hours of Lincoln visits? If you're statying at the Hilton Garden Inn, visit their bar before heading to bed as it can be a fun...and convenient scene.
