The newly refurbished Union Station is the place to begin any trip to Springfield. It is the new home of the Springfield Convention and Visitors Center, and has a staffed visitor's desk where friendly people can give you directions and advise about anything in the area. It has air conditioned places to chill on hot summer days, covered picnic tables for lunching, and clean restroom facilities in a lovly historic building. It is at the corner of 6th and Madison, on the north side of Union Square Park, across the street from the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum. Look for the beautiful clock tower.
