With four lakes in its city limits, Madison has miles and miles of great biking and walking paths, so forget your car!

This city is full of bikers and pedestrians as well as some great biking shops such as Williamson Bicycle, Revolution Cycle, and Erik's Bike Shop. Now where to bring those bikes? Biking around Lake Monona provides beautiful scenery and two hours of entertainment; make sure to pass through Olbrich Botanical Gardens and park. Similarly, Lake Mendota is another great option and passes right by the University of Wisconsin, a great place to stop at the end of your trek is the Memorial Union, whether it be for ice-cream, draught beer, or just water and scenery! Once on campus, a quick bike around the arrea showcases a number of beautiful old buildings and gardens. Finally, another terrific path is the UW Arboretum path which passes Lake Nakoma.

If you want to remain on foot, it is easily done as this is a University city made for easily accessed entertainment. State Street is among the top places to visit and is just off the capital square. In fact, cars are not even allowed on this street, it is pedestrian heaven. The whole strip provides an abundance of ethnic eateries, fun gift shops, and more. Park your car far behind and begin exploring!
