Did you know there are abandoned mountain homes that are only a few minutes from downtown Gatlinburg?  Take a 30 minute detour and enjoy a quiet ride down the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail (aka Airport Road). The trail winds gently through parts of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and conveniently loops back around to town. Along the way, view wild turkeys, old log homes, beautiful scenery and maybe even a bear or two. Driving the loop is free of charge, but the speed limit is slow, so take a camera, a bit of free time and a sense of adventure and enjoy this opportunity to view life as it was a hundred years ago.
