The majority of events, especially those geared toward visitor, will be taking place between May and August, which is prime tourist season for Fairbanks. Throughout the entire season, many wildlife and arctic-related research centers in the area give free tours of their facilities. The Geophysical Institute and the International Arctic Research Center are two of the organizations that offer such tours. Others offer tours on a less frequent basis, such as the Poker Flat Research Range, a rocket range owned by the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, or Calypso Farm and Ecology Center. Another event that takes place throughout the summer is Gazebo Nights, which occurs almost daily in July and August. These nights, sponsored by the Fairbanks Arts Association, feature local musicians, dancers and artists.

In May, check out the annual Harley Davidson Motorcycle Spring Run, which starts in Fairbanks and ends in Chatanika Lodge 30 miles away, or visit the Large Animal Research Station for their annual Birthday Party for the Babies. This organization invites the public to their wildlife facilities to see new calves of muskox, reindeer and other large animals at the station. Memorial Day Weekend then brings Museums Day, a day on which 13 museums across Fairbanks are open for free.

In July, see the World Eskimo-Indian Olympics, where Native Americans compete in traditional games, hold dances and show off their traditional crafts. Events include greased pole walking, tug-o-war, knuckle-hopping, and a muktuk eating contest.
