For the big-stadium, bright lights feel, go to a Jacksonville Jaguars game (professional football).  To watch sporting events in a smaller, quieter crowd, go to any other sporting event in the area.  Some of these include the Jacksonville Dixie Blues (Women’s Football), the Jacksonville Suns (a minor league baseball team affiliated with the Los Angeles Dodgers), and the Jacksonville Barracudas (minor league ice hockey).

The next year will see two more teams joining the fray as expansion teams: the Jacksonville Jam (from the ABA), the Jacksonville Northsiders FC (from the United Soccer League).

But everybody knows that they only real Florida sport is golf.  Just down the road in St. Augustine is the World Golf Hall of fame, and one of the most famous golf courses in the world, the Tournament Players Club at Sawgrass, is in nearby Ponte Vedra.

A short seventy-five minute drive can have you at University of Florida campus, home to one of the best college football teams in the country, the Florida Gators.  Or, if you prefer to stay in Jacksonville, let the football come to you: each year the University of Florida plays the University of Georgia in Jacksonville.  The game is referred to as “The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.”
