Breakfast  San Diego

San Diego has a wide variety of interesting places for breakfast. There is a separate topic of breakfast spots by the beach, this is in breakfast places in general.

Downtown/Gaslamp:

Café Chloe, a French bistro in Downtown San Diego serving fresh, unique breakfasts.

Richard Walker’s Pancake House, more than great pancakes, Richard Walker’s has omelets and specialty dishes.

Broken Yolk Café, Downtown location of the long time Pacific Beach staple.

Café 21, Azerbijani restaurant with unusual breakfast combinations and specialty coffees and teas.

Mary Jane’s, classic American diner in the hip confines of the Hard Rock Hotel.

Hillcrest:

Hash House a Go Go, 3628 Fifth Avenue, is the place to go if you are looking for a BIG breakfast.  Their theme is "twisted farm food", and they make sure you have enormous portions.  Go early or be prepared to wait in a long line.

Cafe on Park, 3831 Park Avenue, is a small restaurant with delicious breakfasts.  Fast service means that you generally don't have to wait too long for a seat, even when it's super busy.  A good choice if you're planning on heading to the San Diego Zoo/Balboa Park afterwards.

Crest Cafe on Robinson in Hillcrest serves up hearty and healthy meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The breakfast offerings are outstanding - with highlights including creme brulee French toast, scramblers and omelets and Mexican influenced specialties.

Snooze Eatery, trendy restaurant with a New American menu of updates on classic breakfast dishes.

Old Town:

Café Coyote, serving standard American breakfast and Mexican breakfast specialties.

Perry’s Café, Perry’s is so old school, they don’t even have a webpage. Hearty breakfast specialties like you would expect from diner including biscuits and gravy.

North Park/Adams Ave:

Adams Ave Grill, how to describe Adams Ave Grille, it is French California Asian Fusion cuisine, or something like that. In any case it is great, where else can you get French Toast with a lavender infused crème brulee sauce?

Antique Row Café, popular American diner, with classic diner dishes, chicken fried steak and unique items like a Frosted Flake encrusted French toast.
