Visitors to Bar Harbor wouldn’t experience all the city has to offer without watching at least one of the performances or shows at either The Deck House or the Criterion Theatre or ImprovAcadia.

The Criterion Theatre is an Art Deco-style movie theatre that has been open in Bar Harbor since the 1930s. Besides the décor in the theatre, which is mostly original, there is a unique “floating” balcony which seats quite a few people. Sitting in the balcony gives patrons an interesting and great view of the movie being shown. The theatre not only shows movies, but it also hosts concerts and other events during the summertime.

ImprovAcadia, right in downtown Bar Harbor has been offering professional actors from Chicago performing Improv Comedy shows since 2004. They take suggestions from the audience and create sophisticated and funny scenes and songs right on the spot. They also have a full bar and snacks. The 8PM shows are appropriate for children and adults. The 10PM show is adults only.

Moscow Magic & Comedy Show The entire audience is engaged and the performer interacts with several children who he calls on stage to help out. If you appreciate a smaller, more intimate theater setting, some good belly laughs and lots of smiles, and clean, wholesome entertainment you don't want to miss this show!
