There are activities in the Bar Harbor area to fit just about everybody’s desires. For people traveling with adults, there are fun things to do, and for people traveling with their family (including children of all ages), there are many kid-friendly places to see and go.

Depending on the age of children in the group, different activates may be chosen. However, some ideas on what not to miss are:

Oli’s Trolley: Take a trolley ride through Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. There are short (1 hour) and long (2 ½ hour) tours available during the summer. Schedules vary depending on the month.

Bicycling: Bar Harbor has many bike trails and many are perfect for older children who already know how to ride or young children who enjoy being pulled in a bike trailer. Personal bikes can be brought to Bar Harbor or rented upon arrival.

Nature Tours: Personalized tours are available for families which includes education about all of the birds and plant-life in Bar Harbor.

Lobster Hatchery: Visit the Maine Lobster Museum and see where female lobsters lay their eggs and watch how the babies hatch.

Bar Harbor Ferry: A ride on the ferry not only provides great views but it also allows passengers to see lobstermen at work.
