Kihei has opened up to the performing arts fans. The Maui Performing Arts Company is putting on plays and can hold over a 100 people, located in the Azeka Shopping Center. http://www.proartspacific.com/

Many of the Kihei Churches particpate in performing arts and Hula as well does The Marriott in Wailea with their Hula Show on the lawn with the ocean back drop, starting around sunset.

Those who don’t mind venturing away from Kihei might catch a concert or musical at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center, which hosts regular outdoor concerts and various international touring acts.   The Ulalena show is also something worth traveling to nearby Lahaina to see.   The show features a 20-person cast that dances, sings, and performs acrobatic tricks as they tell a story rich in Maui history and culture.   The Maui Academy of Performing Arts in Wailuku also host a variety of performances throughout the year.

There are also various festivals and celebrations throughout Maui all year-round.   Check with the tourism board for a complete list of events.  A new venue for plays is the Maui Tropical Plantation. In 2011 they featured the "Damn Yankees" outdoors with full cast, staging and lighting. Bring your own chairs or use the bleacher seating provided towards the back. Food and alchohol were served at this venue.
