Throughout the year there are many entertaining events and festivals held in Norfolk.

There are numerous informative calendars available online, but perhaps the most all inclusive is the Calendar of Events found on the city’s government page.  This calendar allows the user to search for happenings by time of year, event type, or organizer.

The Annual Norfolk Jazz Festival is held every year in early August (the 4th and 5th in 2006).  The event is held at Norfolk’s Town Point Park, where some of the world’s best performers treat spectators to live music in a spectacular outdoor setting.

The FestEvents event listing page is another good place to look for yearly happenings.

At the end of every June, the Bayou Boogaloo and Cajun Food Festival takes over Town Point Park, and swarms of hungry event goers fill the area.   Not only is this a food fest, but the art scene plays a big role in the success of the event every year.

The Annual Children’s Festival is held in Town Point Park in early October.  General admission is only $3, and is worth every cent as kids love this event.

An event geared towards the adult crowd is the Annual Wine Festival .  For a weekend during late October crowds of people gather in the park to sample great wine.
