Lynchburg is a growing city in all different aspects, and shopping in Lynchburg has come a long way with the addition of popular stores on the south end of Lynchburg as well as all kinds of specialty shops in Wyndhurst on the southwest side of Lynchburg near Forest. If you are craving a little outdoor time while you shop Lynchburg offers Wards Crossing. Target, D ick's Sporting Goods, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, Petsmart, Michael's, Pier 1, and Bed Bath & Beyond all surround smaller stores such as Hallmark and Rack Room ShoesOld Navy, Kohl's, and Ross Clothing For Less have been added right across the street as well. Your home renovations can be taken care of by Lowe's on Timberlake Road or Home Depot on Graves Mill Road. Other opportunities to shop outdoors include Boonsboro Shopping Center boasting high end specialty stores like The Silver Thistle and Moyanne. Graves Mill Shopping Center provides unique jewlery stores like Stones & Bones and sporting goods like Anglers Lane. Each outdoor shopping center is different in it's own way, but you can shop Jo Ann's & Tuesday Morning at Fort Hill Village Shopping Center, TJ Maxx, Goody's and Staples at Candlers Station, and Burlington Coat Factory at (the old) Ames Plaza on Wards Road.

Just because it may not be in a shopping center doesn't mean it's not worth visiting especially in the case of Givens Books on Lakeside Drive, Bookstore on the Avenue, Macon Bookshop, Riverside Runners and Gallery 720 on Rivermont Avenue, House of Vacuums and Quilted Expressions on Old Forest Road, and The Farm Basket on Langhorne Road. Looking for organic, Amish bulk , gluten free items, flowers or produce visit Anderson's Country Market in Madison Heights just a few minutes north of downtown Lynchburg.

If you are looking for something that wasn't quite right for someone else, but could be perfect for you, check out L. Oppleman Pawn Shop on Main Street and Nice as New Consignment on Old Forest Road. Looking for something homemade or one of a kind? Go to the Lynchburg Community Market on the corner of 12th Street and Main on Saturday mornings; the market is full of vendors selling a little bit of everything from fresh vegetables to arts & crafts.

If you are looking to spend quite a bit more and go shopping for vehicles Lynchburg has made some changes in the past couple of years. Lynchburg Ford is now Apple Ford still on Lakeside Drive, Lynchburg Nissan and Lynchburg Mazda have moved to the corner of Cottontown Road & Route 221, and Lynchburg Mitsubishi has moved onto Old Forest Road. Along with the move, Lynchburg Mitsubishi has added Hyundai and Isuzu to their sales and right down the street is Billy Craft Honda. Also on Route 221 is  Kenneth Hamersley Mercedes, BMW & Lincoln sales, Jim Martin Pontiac, GMC & Buick sales, Terry Volkswagon & Subaru sales, and the new construction of Billy Craft selling Dodge, Chrysler & Jeep. Old Ridge Toyota is located on Wards Road and Ridge Ridge Kia at River Ridge Mall. Royal Chevrolet Cadillac is on Graves Mill Road off the 501 expressway and Saturn of Lynchburg can be found on Timberlake Road near Route 460.
