The  Homestead is a family friendly resort.  It is a great place for your children or grand children to learn to ski or board. The staff is friendly and the lodge has a view of the slope from inside and outside on the deck with fireplaces in both places.  This is not the place to come if your focus is skiing  and you are looking  for more than an easy intermediate slope.  The instructors follow a long established tradition of a mix of U.S. and Austrians.  There are plenty of other activities for non skiers as well.  It is Virginia, so the weather and snow doesn't always cooperate, but if you have reasonable expectations you will enjoy this area.
