The city of Hampton's downtown area is home to several museums and other attractions which cater to the large number of tourists who come there each year as well as to locals on weekends.  One such attraction which is loved by everyone is the Hampton Carousel, located next to the Air and Space Center.  Built in 1920, this antique carnival ride has been fully restored and sits in its own small building on the waterfront.  The carousel is open from Easter weekend through December each year and rides cost $1 each.  Tickets are available next door at the Space Center.

The Virginia Air and Space Center, in addition to being the place to buy carousel tickets, is a great destination as well.  The official visitors center for NASA and Langley Air Force Base, the Space Center has over 100 interactive exhibits that chronicle the history of space travel.  It is also the home of the Apollo 12 command module and has an IMAX theatre.  Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for children.  See their website for more information.
