Bluemont is a vineyard and winery is located in the Bluemont, Virginia.  It sits on the eastern face of a hill in the Blue Ridge mountains.  On a clear day you can see the buildings in Reston, Virginia.

They grow and make their own wine on the premises.

The winery has two main levels.  Tastings can be done at both the main level and upstairs.  There is a huge deck and lawn with tables and chairs looking out over the great views.  On weekends, Bluemont often has muscians.  Between the wine, the view and the music, Bluemont is very popular and seating can get scarce.  So, it is advisable to come early and/or bring a blanket in case you have to spread out on the lawn.

In 2010, Bluemont changed their policies and bringing in food is no longer allowed.  There is a small selection of food that can be purchased on site.

For the younger ones, there are some chickens and roosters next to the winery.  Also, across the main road is a farm that has all sorts of attractions for children including hay rides, pumpkin patches, fishing pond, piglet races and many outdoor games.

All in all it is a great day trip from the DC-area.

Parking is ample.
