Not surprisingly, the best place to shop in Fredericksburg is downtown on Main Street. This single street holds more places to spend money that even seems possible. There are three main categories of shopping in Fredericksburg: antiques, arts and crafts, and boutiques.
Antiques: The 35-year old Showcase Antiques is practically an antique itself. Located on East Main Street, Showcase specializes in glass, ceramics and silverware. Just slightly younger is
Jackson’s Uptown Market, a better choice if you’re looking for antique wood furniture or other larger items.
Arts & Crafts: The best of Fredericksburg’s crafts have a distinct local flavor – you’ll find them nowhere else. On Main Street, you can buy jewelry and figurines inspired by the
Texas horned toad. More local animal influences can be found at the
Salt Branch Outpost, which creates art from antlers. Forget just mounting them on the wall: here you can find tables, chairs, and decorative lamps all made out of antlers!
Boutiques: The cutting edge of fashion finds its home at Fredericksburg’s Main Street in
Root, a women’s clothing and accessories boutique that calls itself “a little modern, a little bohemian, very cool.” There’s little here inspired by traditional Texan culture, but for that you can head over to
Haberdashery, also on Main Street. It’s a women’s clothing store that updates frontier styles for some thoroughly fashionable results.
