As a born and bred Texan, I sure love TEX MEX food.  If you are visiting the Dallas area and are looking for TEX MEX, you've come to the right place. Dallas is a great place for eating and drinking, and you can find many options for mexican fare here to fit every type of occasion you can think of.  If you are looking for excellent Tex-Mex fare, you should try Mia's on Lemmon Ave. They are famous for their brisket tacos, and this is a small, family-style place. It gets very crowded during prime lunch and dinner hours, so be prepared to wait.  If you are looking for a more Mexico City -style dining experience, you might want to try Javier's. It is very upscale and not tex-mex...they have a cigar bar and lots of accomodations - great for large parties, they have private rooms, etc.

Dallas has several mexican restaurant chains as well that are strictly regional - Mi Cocina, Taco Diner, El Fenix, Luna de Noche, Gloria's, Uncle Julios, to name a few.

If you're looking for a night out, that includes great mexican food, try Monica's Aca Y Alla,  in Deep Ellum area of downtown.  This is a fun time to be had by all and excellent food as well. They have a band and dancing on the weekends, it's always fun there!
