About an hour's drive north of Nashville is one of the more unusual attractions in Tennessee, the home of the Bell Witch, a supernatural phenomenon that was loosely portrayed by the movie "An American Haunting" in 2006.  According to the story, the Bell family was violenty haunted by some sort of witch, poltergeist or supernatural entity in the early years of the 1800s.  It is said to be the only documented haunting in America that actually resulted in the death of an individual.  Local legend says that President Andrew Jackson was one of the curious visitors to the Bell site, and that he got a good fright while there.
Today, the Bell story is one of the main drawing points for Adams, and there are a handful of relics from this era to visit.  One is the Pioneer Log Cabin, circa 1810, located on Highway 41. It was built by the Bell family and is the lone surviving building from their original plantation. A handful of graves and cemeteries are in Adams marking the last resting places of various members of the family, including John Bell, the family patriarch, along with some local landmarks such as "the Enchanted Spring" and the "eerie rock formation" that also played small roles in the tortured saga of the Bell Family.
