The region is served by Nashville International Airport ( BNA ), a sizable facility served by many of the nation's leading carriers. BNA is a hub for Southwest airlines, providing direct flights to Nashville from many of the cities Southwest services, including Baltimore/Washington, Raleigh-Durham, New  Orleans, and San Diego. Amtrak does not travel to Nashville.

Public transportation in Nashville is provided by the Nashville MTA,  but can be difficult to negotiate and is not convenient to all areas of the city. Visitors (and especially those staying at Opryland) may want to consider renting a car to travel back and forth from their hotel to downtown. The usual national car rental chains are represented in the city.

As of September 2008, taxi fares from the airport include a fee of $7 per departure, and $2 per mile traveled. There is a $25 flat rate for travel from BNA to downtown. For all other areas within metro Nashville the taxi fees include a $3 pickup fee and $2 per mile traveled. Shuttles to and from the airport can also be arranged by your hotel or through a number of different businesses linked on the Nashville Airport webpage.
